lg dlite cell phone

LG recently released the LG dLite, a flip phone geared toward the young female crowd.  After looking at the specs, this appears to be a fairly middle of the road phone.  It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from a smartphone, yet it certainly is much better than your typical starter phone.  It can be yours for the low price of $49.99 after signing a two-year contract with T-Mobile.

There are many features to like about this phone.  The display is big, though this isn’t necessarily a good thing as we explain later.  Users are sure to enjoy the high resolution, which results in a well-defined assortment of images.  We found the navigation keys quite useful in finding our way around the phone.  The dLite was built for compatibility with all the major free email services as well as with common social networking websites (more specifically Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter).  All your standard features are found on the dLite: speakerphone, alarm clock, GPS and Google Maps, large phonebook, instant messaging, an internet browser, 2.0 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, calculator, stopwatch, and many more.

The LG dLite comes with different animations depending on what the phone is doing at a particular moment.  For example, animations play whenever you have an incoming text message or call or when the music player is going.  Also, the bottom of the phone is an LED projector that flashes different colors and patterns of light that are preprogrammed into the phone.  This nifty feature is sure to earn more than a few oohs and awws from friends.

Despite its awesome features, the LG dLite is far from perfect.  Surprisingly, the phone lacks a 3.5mm headset jack, though it does come with an internal music player.  Its edges feel much too pointed.  When flipped open the phone is very long and almost looks silly.  This alone might be a turnoff for the image-conscious, but who knows, maybe long flip phones will become the new fad.  For some reason, LG didn’t take into consideration the camera angle on the phone, which means aiming to take a straight picture of your target is a rather awkward task.  Some may like the phone’s wallpaper and cute animation themes, while others might hate them for being too simplistic and childish-looking.

Despite the few negative features, the LG dLite should prove to be a great phone.  We are especially impressed by its low price tag and many quality features.  Available in bright pink or pastel blue, this phone is sure to appeal to most teenage girls.
