Need a new AT&T cell phone but still under contract? This can be an expensive position to be in as most phones without a contract are expensive. If you don’t need a top of the line replacement, it is possible to get that new phone cheap. In fact, you may be able to get it for free.
Currently, all AT&T go phones can be used on the same network as the phones requiring a contract. All you have to do is pull the sim card out of your current contract phone and insert it into the Go Phone. Power the phone up and it will be ready to use. If you have a lot of contacts stored in your old phone, you may want to transfer the information to the sim card so what when you insert it into the new phone those contacts are carried over. Once in the new phone you can transfer them from the sim card to the phone memory if you would like to.
There are times when specials are run on refurb Go Phones where you can actually get the phone for free. Almost always there is a refurb Go Phone as cheap as $9.99. We have purchased nice phone such as the Nokia 6085 for as little as $19.99. This particular model included Bluetooth, mp3 player, speakerphone, etc and even though it was a refurb, there was no indication of prior use or a problem.
This can also be a good option if you have an expensive phone you don’t want to damage in some circumstances. For instance, if you go boating and worry about dropping that $350 Blackberry into the water, get a Go Phone to use while out on the boat.
Next time you damage that AT&T phone that is not under warranty but still under contract or just need a good second phone, take a look at the Go Phone options.
